How We Work
Our methodology, our data sources, and what drives every verdict we publish.

Meet the Founder
Anas Aldasouqi
Founder of Carummah · Automotive Professional
Carummah was founded by Anas Aldasouqi, an automotive professional on the team at Capital Honda in Okemos, Michigan. Working inside the industry every day gives Anas a front-row seat to how cars are priced, financed, and sold, and he built Carummah to share that insider knowledge with the community.
Anas saw firsthand how little of the car-shopping web speaks to Muslim buyers: prices quoted without the mandatory fees, payment calculators built entirely around interest, and forms whose real purpose is to collect and resell your contact information. He built Carummah as a straightforward alternative, a transparent resource that is free of riba (the prohibited excess on a loan) and gives you the real numbers before you shop.
Every number on this site is calculated halal. Every verdict discloses both strengths and weaknesses. And every guide is written to help you walk into a dealership prepared, knowing what the car costs, how the pricing is built, and what a fair deal looks like for you and for the store. A prepared buyer is a good customer, and the visit goes faster for everyone.
Carummah is an independent consumer guide and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Capital Honda or any vehicle manufacturer. Anas's industry experience informs the editorial, it never influences the verdicts.
What Does "Carummah" Mean?
Ummah is an Arabic word meaning "community" or "nation", a collective bound not by blood, but by shared purpose. When we say Carummah, we mean the community of all automobiles, and the humans who drive them, working as one.
In the Carummah, all cars are brothers and sisters. A Honda and a Hyundai, a Subaru and a Toyota - they are not enemies. They are kin. Each one exists to serve, to move people, to connect. They are better off united than divided, and so are we who research, compare, and choose them.
This website exists for the benefit of cars and the people who love them. We believe every vehicle has true value that deserves to be seen clearly, not inflated by marketing, not obscured by complexity. When you see a car, give gratitude. Someone designed it, built it, and it carries someone's life forward every day.
Our mission is to unite humans and cars. We don't compete against each other here, no brand loyalty wars, no "us vs. them." We work together. Honest data. Real numbers. Respect for every machine on the road. That is the Carummah way.
We Are Not a Dealership
Carummah is an independent consumer guide. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any vehicle manufacturer in any way. All manufacturer names, model names, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
Carummah itself does not sell cars, take referral fees from dealers, or run manufacturer-sponsored content. What it is not free of is our founder's day job: Anas sells cars at Capital Honda, so if you contact him through this site and go on to buy from him, he is paid on that sale. We would rather you read every verdict here knowing that than believe we have no stake at all.
Where Our Data Comes From
All pricing and specification data on this site comes from publicly available sources:
- ·MSRPs: Sourced from each manufacturer's official configurator and press releases. We include the destination & handling charge in all prices because that's a mandatory cost, every buyer pays it.
- ·Fuel economy: EPA-estimated figures as published on fueleconomy.gov.
- ·Safety ratings: From IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), linked directly to source pages.
- ·Monthly estimates: The total price spread over a 60-month term, $0 down, at an assumed 7% markup, quoted as financing through the brand's own financial company. The 7% is our assumption for illustration, not a rate anyone is quoted. Because that financier owns the car it sells, the markup is profit on a cost-plus sale and the total is fixed at signing, so it is not the Loan Excess. The same figure borrowed from a third-party bank would be. See our halal financing guide.
We update data when new model years launch or mid-year pricing changes are announced. Every number has a source. If we can't verify it, we don't publish it.

Our Verdict Methodology
Every model page includes an Honest Verdict with exactly three strengths and two weaknesses. This isn't arbitrary, it forces us to acknowledge trade-offs on every single vehicle, including the ones we personally love.
Our "Buy This Trim" and "Skip This Trim" recommendations are based on value analysis: what features each trim adds, the monthly cost delta, and whether those features matter to most buyers. We always show the math.
We avoid empty superlatives. When we do call something "best-in-class," we back it with the number that makes it true. We state specific, verifiable facts. If one SUV has more cargo space than a rival, we give the number. If the road noise is worse than a competitor, we say so.
Each vehicle also receives a scored breakdown across key dimensions, value, efficiency, safety, reliability, and practicality. Scores are derived from objective data points (MSRP-to-features ratio, EPA fuel economy, IIHS/NHTSA ratings, predicted reliability indices) and normalized within the vehicle's segment. A compact sedan isn't penalized for having less cargo space than a full-size SUV; it's judged against its peers.
Who Writes Our Verdicts
Carummah is researched, written, and edited by one person: founder Anas Aldasouqi. There is no large editorial team behind this site, and we won't pretend there is. Verdicts and data are compiled from independent, named sources, Consumer Reports, IIHS, NHTSA, EPA, and each manufacturer's official configurator, and we label where a claim comes from.
Full disclosure: Anas sells cars at Capital Honda. That affiliation is disclosed across the site, and it does not soften our coverage, Honda models get the same fixed format of strengths and weaknesses as every other brand. We don't accept manufacturer press trips, sponsorships, or loaner vehicles.
If you spot a claim that seems wrong, tell us on the contact page and we will correct it and note the source.
How We Estimate Pricing
Every price you see on Carummah is the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) plus the destination and delivery charge, because that's what you actually pay. We don't display "starting from" prices that exclude mandatory fees.
Here's how each pricing figure is calculated:
- ·Total price: Base MSRP + destination fee, sourced from the manufacturer's official configurator.
- ·Monthly estimate: Total price (MSRP + destination) spread over a 60-month term, $0 down, at an assumed 7% markup, read as financing through the brand's own financial company. The 7% is an assumption for illustration, not a quoted rate, and it is not interest on a loan: the brand's financing arm owns the car it sells, which makes the charge profit on a cost-plus sale rather than the Loan Excess. Judge any offer by who is financing it, not by the size of the number. See our halal financing guide for murabaha and ijara options.
- ·True cost of ownership: Depreciation (5-year projected), fuel costs (EPA combined MPG × 15,000 mi/yr at national average gas prices), insurance estimates, maintenance schedules, and financing interest, sourced from EPA, Edmunds TCO data, and Kelley Blue Book depreciation curves.
- ·Out-the-door price: Our flagship calculator applies your state's sales tax, doc fee, and title/registration estimates. Tax is calculated on (vehicle price − trade-in value), as most states allow trade-in credits. All rates are averages, actual costs vary by county, city, and dealer.
We update pricing when new model years launch, when manufacturers announce mid-year price changes, or when significant incentive shifts occur. Every figure has a source, and if we can't verify it, we don't publish it.
How We Make Money
We do not sell your data, and we do not sell leads to third parties. No dealership pays us to steer you toward a vehicle, a brand, or a purchase. But we should be precise here rather than clever: Find My Car is a lead-capture form. It asks for your name, email, and optionally your phone number and ZIP code, and those submissions are stored as sales leads and go to Anas, who sells cars at Capital Honda. He may follow up with you about buying a car, including one from his own dealership. If you would rather just read the research, you never have to fill it in.
Where we do differ from the big car-shopping sites is what happens next. Many of them are funded by reselling contact information to whichever dealers bid for it, so one form can hand your number to a dozen strangers. Ours goes to one person, and we do not pass it to dealer lead networks or data brokers. If Find My Car emails you a list of dealerships near you, that list travels to you; your details do not travel to them. The privacy policy spells out exactly who receives what, and how to have it deleted.
Carummah sells one paid service: Deal Check. You send your paperwork before you sign, and Anas tells you every charge that is negotiable, what to delete, and the words to say. You pay for it, and nobody else does. No dealership, lender, or manufacturer pays Carummah anything for it, and none ever has. He will not take a Deal Check on a car being bought from Capital Honda, and he never contacts a dealership on a customer's behalf, because advising you and representing you are different jobs and only one of them is his. The full terms are on the Deal Check page.
Beyond that, the only revenue channel on the site is our accessories and apparel store, which is new and has brought in very little so far. We may add display advertising and affiliate partnerships with non-dealer services (e.g. auto insurance quote tools, financing marketplaces) that would be clearly labeled as sponsored. Such partnerships will never influence our editorial content, a vehicle we rate poorly will never get a positive review because an advertiser sells accessories for it.
If we ever change this model, we'll disclose it here first. You have our word.
The bottom line
We believe the best car-buying decisions come from complete, transparent information, not from hiding the downsides or inflating the upsides. That's why we exist.
